“Plateau” at Produzentengalerie Hamburg

In association with Neue Kunst in Hamburg, “Plateau” will exhibit at Produzentengalerie Hamburg – opening 28th October at 6.30pm – until 6th November 2021.

A fresh series of totemic sculptures made from found clothes and tin and clay sourced from Jos, accompanies the two channel film installation. Sieves used for processing raw tin – made from woven baskets, sand and tar – ready-mades brought from Jos, form the bases of the sculptures.

A supporting publication titled “Hitherto”,  offers an interview with Leonie Radine – Curator at Museum Ludwig, Köln, outlining Plateau’s ideation. The publication is released on the occasion of the Neue Kunst in Hamburg 2019-2021 travel grant, curated by Eva Birkenstock and published by Textem Verlag Hamburg.

“Plateau” is commissioned and produced by Fondazione In Between Art Film and co-produced by Golddust by Ashadu.
With thanks to Neue Kunst in Hamburg e.V, Hamburgische Kulturstiftung, Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media and Produzentengalerie.

Open Shields, Artist book

“Open Shields” is an Artists’ book accompanying the exhibition “Plateau” at Secession, Vienna (2 July – 5 Sept 2021).

Featuring research images taken on my mobile phone as I ideated the film “Plateau”, the book’s notebook format is inspired by the way I conceptualise my ideas. A gold foil motif to the front – a reiteration of a piece of earth I encountered on mining sites in Jos, is combined with a pink cover and linen binding – earthy tones mirroring the clay tones of the region. Text by Erika Balsom gives further insight into “Plateau”.

Available to purchase at Secession.
