The film “Brown Goods“, 2020 and the two sculptures “Okada” and “Right Open Left Open”, 2020 will show at Trautwein Herleth, Berlin in a group show entitled “Shelf Life”.

The film “Machine Boys” will be screened from 14 January to 9 March 2025 in the cinema of Kunstal Charlottenborg, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Entrance to the cinema is free with paid admission to the museum.

The film, which premiered at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, earned Karimah Ashadu the distinguished Silver Lion Prize.

Karimah Ashadu’s (b. 1985, London, UK) first institutional solo show in the USA will open at Canal Projects in May 2025. Central to the show is the award-winning film “Machine Boys” (2024).

Karimah Ashadu’s (b. 1985, London, UK) work will feature in the group exhibition “The Gatherers” at MoMA PS1, New York. The show is curated by Ruba Katrib, Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, with Sheldon Gooch, Curatorial Assistant. It will include Ashadu’s film “Brown Goods” (2020).

Ashadu’s practice employs an intimate and singular lens to examine notions of labour, formations and perceptions of the self, masculinity, and patriarchal systems within the economic, social, and cultural context of West Africa.

“Machine Boys” has been selected in the program of the 13th Athens Avant-Garde Film Festival. It will be screened on Sunday December 8th.
