“Machine Boys” has been selected in the program of the 71st International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, as part of the German Competition. This will be the film’s German Premiere. The festival will take place from April 29th to May 4th, 2025.

Screening of ‘Machine Boys’ at Kunsthal Charlottenborg – January – March 2025
Tuesday, January 7th, 2025The film “Machine Boys” will be screened from 14 January to 9 March 2025 in the cinema of Kunstal Charlottenborg, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Entrance to the cinema is free with paid admission to the museum.
The film, which premiered at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, earned Karimah Ashadu the distinguished Silver Lion Prize.

Forthcoming group show at MoMA PS1 Announced – April 2025
Wednesday, December 4th, 2024Karimah Ashadu’s (b. 1985, London, UK) work will feature in the group exhibition “The Gatherers” at MoMA PS1, New York. The show is curated by Ruba Katrib, Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, with Sheldon Gooch, Curatorial Assistant. It will include Ashadu’s film “Brown Goods” (2020).
Ashadu’s practice employs an intimate and singular lens to examine notions of labour, formations and perceptions of the self, masculinity, and patriarchal systems within the economic, social, and cultural context of West Africa.
